We collect only the personal data needed to provide bcMeter products, support and optional cloud services. A bcMeter can be used locally without an account and without sending measurements to bcMeter Cloud.

2. Website, enquiries and orders
When you visit bcmeter.org or contact, order from or request support from us, we process the information you provide, such as your contact, organisation, delivery, order and support details. The website also receives technical request data, including IP address, time, browser and requested page.
We use these data to answer enquiries, prepare and perform contracts, deliver products and support, keep accounting records and protect the website. The legal bases are Articles 6(1)(b), 6(1)(c) and 6(1)(f) GDPR. Optional analytics or marketing cookies are used only with consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Details are in the Cookie-Richtlinie.
Contact and order details are required only where needed to answer your request or perform a contract; without them, we may be unable to respond or fulfil the order.
3. Optional bcMeter Cloud
Cloud sharing starts only after it is enabled on the device. An account is not required. The device then sends measurement values, timestamps, device and software information, operating status, location data, a device identifier and technical request data such as the IP address so that we can receive, store, display and export measurements and operate the cloud service.
We process accountless cloud sharing on the basis of your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw consent on the device at any time; this stops new uploads and public display. You can also request deletion through the authenticated local cloud settings or at jd@bcmeter.org. We may ask you to prove control of the device; no account is required. Do not send a device password or cloud credential by email.
4. Device identifiers, public sharing and location
The real device ID is visible locally and, where relevant, to authorised fleet users and bcMeter administrators. Public views use a stable pseudonymous public_id instead. It is not anonymous because bcMeter can link it to the device internally.
While cloud sharing is enabled, selected measurements and timestamps may be published under the public_id; the real device ID and any account email are not published. Coordinates, their source and a coarse public place may also be processed. Location data may be sent to OpenStreetMap services for place labels and, for cellular positioning, to OpenCellID or Mylnikov. These services also receive the requesting server's IP address.
5. Optional accounts, fleets and email
If you create an account, we process your verified email address, authentication and session data, roles, fleet memberships and device assignments to provide and secure the requested account functions under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Fleet members see only devices assigned to their fleet.
Account verification, invitations, password recovery and security messages are necessary service messages. Optional operational emails are based on consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and require the corresponding choice. Measurement-project reminders remain off unless a separate double opt-in for that purpose has been completed; account verification or a fleet invitation does not subscribe you.
6. Service providers
Amazon Web Services processes cloud storage, APIs, account identity, logs and service email for us, primarily in the EU region Stockholm. ALL-INKL.COM hosts bcmeter.org in Germany. Payment providers process payment details shown at checkout. Providers receive only the data needed for their service and act under the applicable data-protection terms. If data are processed outside the European Economic Area, we rely on an adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards under Chapter V GDPR.
7. Retention
Device-linked cloud data are kept until authenticated deletion is requested or the service ends, unless a legal duty requires limited further retention. Account and fleet data are kept until the account is deleted or no longer needed. Security logs are kept for up to 90 days; short-lived pairing, session and rate-limit records expire automatically. Contract, payment, consent and accounting records are retained only for the applicable legal or claims period. Restricted backup copies expire on their normal recovery cycle.
8. Your rights
Subject to the statutory conditions, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction and data portability, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing. Contact jd@bcmeter.org. You may also complain to a data protection authority, in particular the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
Cloud upload, accounts, public sharing, location and optional emails are not required by law. Local measurement remains available without them.
